Israel-Gaza Hostage-Release and Ceasefire Deal: Who Are The Slain Hostages That Remain?

After two years of war, Israel and Gaza signed a hostage release and ceasefire deal, orchestrated by US President Donald Trump, that saw 20 living hostages in Gaza released to Israel on October 13, 2025, in exchange for nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners, including 250 terror convicts serving life.
These 20 remaining hostages were returned to Israel after spending 738 days of captivity in the Gaza Strip, where they were tortured, starved and held in isolation.
Who are the 20 living hostages who were returned on Monday?
- Elkana Bohbot, 36, was part of the production crew at the outdoor rave near Re'im when he was taken hostage during the October 7 attack. 
- Matan Angrest, 22, was captured from the tank in which he was fighting on October 7. All his tank comrades—Itai Chen, Daniel Peretz, and Tomer Leibovitz—were killed, and their bodies were taken to Gaza. 
- Avinatan Or, 32, was attending the outdoor rave near Re'im when he was captured by Hamas. His girlfriend, Noa Argamani was also captured that day and rescured in a daring operation by the Israel Defense Forces in June 2024. 
- Yosef-Haim Ohana, 23, was at the outdoor rave near Re'im when he was taken hostage during the October 7 masscare. 
- Alon Ohel, 24, was attending the outdoor rave near Re'im when he was taken hostage during the attack. 
- Evyatar David, 24, was at the outdoor rave near Re'im when he was captured. 
- Guy Gilboa-Dalal, 23, was attending the outdoor rave near Re'im when he was taken hostage during the attack. 
- Rom Braslavski, 21, was providing security at the outdoor rave near Re'im when he was captured. 
- Gali Berman, 27, was captured along with his twin brother Ziv during the attacks on October 7. 
- Ziv Berman, 27, along with his twin brother Gali. 
- Eitan Mor, 24, arrived at the outdoor rave near Re'im as a security guard and taken to Gaza. 
- Segev Kalfon, 27, was attending the outdoor rave near Re'im when he was captured during the attack. 
- Nimrod Cohen, 19, was a tank operator who was taken hostage from his tank in which he was fighting. 
- Maxim Herkin, 36, was attending the outdoor rave near Re'im when he was taken hostage during the attack. 
- Eitan Horn, 38, was kidnapped while visiting his brother Yair in Kibbutz Nir Oz. 
- Matan Zangauker, 25, was kidnapped from his home in Nir Oz along with his partner, Ilana Gritzewsky, who was later released 
- Bar Kuperstein, 22, was working as a security guard at the outdoor rave near Re'im when he was captured. 
- David Cunio, 34, was taken from his home with his family members on October 7. 
- Ariel Cunio, 27, was kidnapped along with his partner, Arbel Yehud, her brother Dolev Yehud, and his brother David Cunio. 
- Omri Miran, 47, was taken from a neighbor's house, captured on camera. 
Who are the slain hostages returned?
Following the release of the living hostages, the remains of the deceased hostages, killed in captivity, came on Tuesday night and Wednesday, with Hamas breaking the ceasefire deal.
Four bodies were handed over to Israel from Hamas on Tuesday night, and another 3 were handed over on Wednesday night. Hamas is still holding 20 slain hostages.
Four bodies were returned and identified on Tuesday night:
- Guy Illouz, 26, was abducted from the Nova music festival. 
- Bipin Joshi, 23, a Nepalese student captured and taken to Gaza. 
- Yossi Sharabi, 53, was kidnapped from Kibbutz Be’eri, on October 7. 
- Daniel Perez, 22, an IDF soldier with South African-Israeli dual nationality, and was killed battling Hamas on October 7. 
Three bodies were returned and identified on Wednesday:
- Tamir Nimrodi, 18, an IDF soldier taken hostage from his base near the Erez Crossing on October 7. 
- Uriel Baruch, 35, was murdered at the Nova music festival, and the father of two. 
- Eitan Levy, 53, a cab driver murdered in southern Israel on October 7. He was dropping off a passenger in Kibbutz Be’er around 7:15 am. 
A fourth body, handed over by Hamas to the Red Cross, was said to be a Palestinian.  As of Wednesday night, the Israeli military received two more bodies from the Red Cross. Hamas has said it returned all the deceased hostages it could find. 
Who are the slain hostages still being held by Hamas and other terror groups in Gaza?
Trump told CNN that Israel will be able to renew the fighting in Gaza “as soon as I say the word,” if Hamas doesn’t uphold the deal.
As part of Trump’s 20-point peace plan, “Within 72 hours of Israel publicly accepting this agreement, all hostages, alive and deceased, will be returned.”
- Itay Chen, 19, a combatant with the 75th Battalion, 7th Division from Netanya, he was killed on October 7. 
- Eliyahu Margalit, 76, was kidnapped from his home on October 7 and was killed while being held by Hamas 
- Sahar Baruch, 25, and his brother Idan were injured by grenade fragments at their mother's house. Both were killed. Sahar was taken to Gaza. 
- Joshua Luito Mollel, 21, an agronomy student from Tanzania, was taken hostage in the attacks and killed. 
- Tal Haimi, 42, was killed on October 7, and his body was taken to Gaza by Hamas. 
- Arye Zalmanovich, 86, one of the oldest victims of the October 7 attacks, was kidnapped from his home and taken to Gaza 
- Ran Gvili, 24, a Yasam patrol unit officer from Meitar, was killed on October 7. 
- Dror Or, 48, a resident of Be'eri, was killed on October 7. 
- Tamir Adar, 20, was a military education NCO at the Gaza Coordination and Liaison Command when he was captured on October 7. 
- Ronen Engel,54, kidnapped from his home in Nir Oz along with his wife Karina and daughters Mika and Yuval,l during the October 7 attack. 
- Inbar Haiman, 27, was kidnapped from the outdoor rave near Re'im on October 7 and was killed while being held by Hamas. 
- Asaf Hamami, 20, commander of the Southern Brigade in the Gaza Division from Kiryat Ono, was killed on October 7. 
- Lior Rudaeff, 61, was an active member of the kibbutz's emergency preparedness team who was killed on October 7. 
- Muhammad Al-Atarash, 39, a tracker in the Gaza Division and resident of Sa'awa in the Negev, was killed in battle with Hamas terrorists. 
- Meni Godard, 73, a resident of Be'eri, was killed during the October 7 attacks, alongside his wife Ayelet. 
- Omer Neutra, 21, an American-Israeli citizen and tank platoon commander in the IDF, was killed during the Hamas-led attack on October 7. 
- Oz Daniel, 19, a combatant with the Givati Brigade reconnaissance unit from Kfar Saba. 
- Sonthaya Oakkharasri, 30, a Thai foreign worker killed in Kibbutz Be'eri on October 7. 
- Sudthisak Rinthalak, 43, a Thai foreign worker killed in Kibbutz Be'eri on October 7. 
- Amiram Cooper, 85, was abducted alongside his wife Nurit, who was released in Octoberֿ 2023. 
- Hadar Goldin, 23, a lieutenant in the IDF, his body has been held by Hamas since the 2014 conflict.
